Text Box: Text Box: Early Stage East would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors, participants and attendees for making the Early Stage East 2008 Venture Capital Conference such an overwhelming success!

This year we held our conference on June 18, 2008 at the historic Hotel DuPont in downtown Wilmington, Delaware with a sellout crowd of attendees. ESE 2008 provided an excellent opportunity for early stage companies to showcase their business ideas to venture capitalists, private investors and investment bankers. The VIP Golf tournament held at the DuPont Country Club and the Private Invitation Only VIP Reception hosted at the Brantwyn Estate on June 17 provided the perfect ice-breaker for the ‘Networking Event of the Year’.

Attending entrepreneurs were appreciative of the uniqueness of the event and of the opportunity to network with investors and witness novel business ideas, all under one roof!

Text Box: This year’s ESE 2008 event can be referred to as a ‘Hole in One’ on many fronts.

First, our heartiest congratulations go out to Ed Sager of Mentor Capital Partners who hit a hole in one on the 5th hole, par 3 at the DuPont Country Club where the ESE Golf Tournament was being held! This was the first time in the history of our event that a hole in one was ever shot. Ed unfortunately did not hit the hole in one on the 17th Hole where a 2008 Jaguar XKF waited to be driven away. However, being the consummate negotiator that he always is, Ed feverishly tried to trade his accomplishment from Hole 5 to Hole 17, but in the end had to be satisfied with a cash prize. Ed has vowed a repeat performance next year when another Jaguar will stand glinting in the sun to tempt the golfers. Our thanks to Union Park Jaguar for their gracious contribution of the ‘XKF Hole in One Prize’!

Needless to say, the ‘Hole in One’ did not end with the Golf Tournament. The next day, the presenting companies did an outstanding job that has been featured on the Forbes.com. Several of the presenting companies are now in review and in negotiations with various investors throughout the region. It appears that this year’s “ESE Class of 2008” may be the most actively funded ever. Our congratulations to all! We are happy to be able to bring the two parties together.

ESE also scored a ‘Hole in One’ with its maiden venue – the Hotel DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware. We received rave reviews from the attendees and participants throughout the event about our choice of venue, so much so, that next year’s ESE will be hosted again at the Hotel DuPont. Please don’t forget to join us at this magnificent locale and help us shoot another ‘Hole in One’ in 2009!
